The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has expressed its deep outrage over the tragic killing of 16 hunters in Uromi, Edo State. The victims were traveling from Port Harcourt to Kano to join their families in celebrating Sallah when they were violently attacked. IPAC has labeled this act as both unjust and wicked, emphasizing the need for accountability.
Yusuf Mamman Danielle, the national chairman of IPAC, took this opportunity to extend heartfelt Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslims across Nigeria. He highlighted the importance of security during this festive time and urged law enforcement to track down the perpetrators of this heinous crime, asserting that every life is invaluable and must be protected. “As we work toward fostering a decent democratic nation, we must prioritize the safety of our citizens," he stated.
In his message, Danielle applauded Muslims for successfully completing their Ramadan fast. He encouraged everyone to embody the virtues of piety, love, tolerance, generosity, and unity, which are essential for building a better society.
Moreover, Danielle called on government officials at all levels to ensure that the promises of democracy materialize in tangible benefits for the people. He referenced Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, which emphasizes that the security and welfare of the citizenry are the primary responsibilities of the government. “Citizens deserve a fair deal from their leaders," he asserted. "Good governance is essential for fostering sustainable democracy and development."
As we navigate these difficult times, Danielle urged all Nigerians to embrace patriotism. “Now is the time for collective resolve, commitment, and determination to build a greater nation that future generations will be proud of,” he concluded.
