Diphtheria is a highly contagious bacterial infection caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae, which can lead to severe respiratory and cardiac complications if left untreated.

In response to the Outbreak, Aboh Mbaise Local Government has taken swift action to contain the outbreak. The Executive Chairman, Barr. Iheukwumere Henry Alaribe, has:
- Ordered the temporary closure of all nursery, primary, and secondary schools in Mbutu to prevent further spread.
- Established an isolation center at the Mbutu Health Center to quarantine and treat affected children.
