"Mbappé Has Potential to Become Real Madrid Legend Like Ronaldo." Ancelotti.

 

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti stated on Monday that superstar striker Kylian Mbappé has the potential to become a club legend, akin to all-time top goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo. 

Having grown up idolizing Ronaldo, Mbappé made the move to Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and has already matched the Portuguese striker's tally of 33 goals in his debut season at the Santiago Bernabéu.

"What I wish for Mbappé is that he is capable of achieving what Ronaldo accomplished at Real Madrid  and I truly believe he can do it," Ancelotti expressed during a news conference. "That would mean he would become a legend at Real Madrid, just like Cristiano Ronaldo."

Ronaldo transferred to Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 and left the club in 2018 as the all-time leading scorer with 450 goals. Now 40 and playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, he managed an impressive 33 goals in 35 matches during his first season with Real Madrid.

In a recent La Liga match, Mbappé, 26, scored two goals against Leganés and remarked that matching Ronaldo's record felt “very special.” He acknowledged the significance of Ronaldo at the club, saying, "We know what he means for Real Madrid, and we often talk; he gives me a lot of advice."

With Real Madrid still in contention for three titles this season, Mbappé has ample opportunity to enhance his goal-scoring record. Ancelotti's team is set to face Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg on Tuesday, where they hold a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in San Sebastián.

Expressing his excitement about reaching a potential final, Ancelotti said, “Being close to a final motivates me, the players, and the club. It’s an accomplishment to reach a final in any competition, and having this small advantage, combined with the support of our fans, further inspires us.”
