"Kenneth Okonkwo Advocates for Unity and Equity in Presidential Support"

 Former Labour Party presidential campaign spokesman Kenneth Okonkwo has expressed his willingness to support either a Southerner or a Northerner who commits to serving a single four-year term in office. He emphasized that this stance is rooted in principles of equity and fairness between Nigeria's northern and southern regions, aligning with the unwritten convention of rotational presidency.

"Unity is crucial. This is a conversation worth having. The candidate's promise of a four-year term will significantly influence my support, as I firmly believe in equity and justice," Okonkwo stated during an interview with Channels Television.

Having resigned from the Labour Party in February, Okonkwo also indicated his openness to joining a coalition aimed at unseating President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election. He criticized the APC government as incompetent and stressed the necessity for a strong opposition alliance to reclaim power in the next election cycle.

"My strategy is straightforward. If the opposition is genuinely determined to oust this inept government, they need to unite and present a cohesive front, similar to what the APC successfully accomplished in 2013, leading to their victory in 2015."

"I believe in the power of coalitions. When I departed, I made it clear that I am open to discussions with any group interested in consolidating the opposition to facilitate the removal of this government," he stated.
