The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, has declared that only full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates will qualify for mobilization into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This announcement follows a meeting between Dr. Alausa and the Director-General of NYSC, addressing the long-standing issue of HND graduate mobilization.
Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press & Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, provided the details in an official statement.
The statement clarifies that graduates who pursued their HND on a part-time basis are ineligible for mobilization for the NYSC.
“The decision reflects the Federal Ministry of Education’s dedication to equity, fairness, and inclusivity within the national education system.
“To ensure a smooth mobilization process, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been instructed to swiftly compile data on eligible full-time HND graduates.
“In this regard, a circular has been dispatched to all Rectors of Polytechnics, directing them to upload the necessary graduate information onto the newly established HND admission portal,” Folasade explained.
The Minister emphasized that mobilization for NYSC is strictly reserved for those who completed their HND program on a full-time basis, highlighting that part-time HND graduates will not be mobilized.
He encouraged all eligible full-time HND graduates to seize this opportunity and initiate their mobilization promptly.
Dr. Alausa reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates and their contributions to national development through the NYSC scheme, the statement concluded.
