Bruno Fernandes led Manchester United into the Europa League quarter-finals with a hat-trick to beat Real Sociedad 4-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday and 5-2 on aggregate.

Bruno Fernandes starred for Manchester United, leading the team to a 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad at Old Trafford, securing a 5-2 aggregate win to advance to the Europa League quarter-finals. The night featured three penalties, all converted by Fernandes, who equalized after Sociedad's Mikel Oyarzabal had opened the scoring early in the match. Fernandes struck again from the spot shortly after halftime and later scored his 15th goal of the season to confirm United's place in the next round against Lyon. Diogo Dalot capped off the evening with a late goal, highlighting a strong performance from the team under manager Ruben Amorim, who praised Fernandes as an exemplary captain. Despite having a challenging season, with United positioned 14th in the Premier League and eliminated from domestic cup competitions, the Europa League remains their best chance for silverware. Sociedad, facing frustrations over officiating, struggled as they played most of the second half with 10 men after Jon Aramburu was dismissed. Despite earlier hopes for European success, it was a disappointing night for the Spanish side. Fernandes, who also impressed in a recent match against Arsenal, demonstrated his crucial role in the team, reflecting his leadership and skill in securing a vital win for United.
