President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a groundbreaking affordable housing project utilizing bamboo technology as part of his Renewed Hope agenda.
Under this initiative, set to be launched in select states soon, bamboo will serve as the primary building material, providing a cost-effective, eco-friendly, and rapidly constructed alternative to traditional housing methods. Officials from the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Developmen emphasize that this approach aims to make decent shelter attainable for vulnerable populations, particularly in rural and semi-urban communities.
Experts highlight that bamboo houses are not only durable and sustainable but also considerably cheaper to build, aligning with President Tinubu’s promise to uplift the common people through practical development strategies. Additionally, the government is collaborating with local and international housing specialists to train artisans in bamboo construction, thereby creating new job opportunities within the sector.
