Suspects Arrested for Murder of 80-Year-Old Theresa Igbojonu in Ihiala
In a shocking incident that has left the Ihiala community in Anambra State reeling, two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of 80-year-old Theresa Igbojonu. The suspects, Chidiebere Igboanugo and Emmanuel Ibeabuchi, both from Umunwaji Ogboro in Ihiala, face serious charges following this appalling crime.

According to a statement from SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the police command, Mrs. Igbojonu was found brutally attacked in her home, bound by her legs and mouth before her untimely death. In a noteworthy development, authorities have recovered a black CG motorcycle, believed to have been stolen from the victim, underscoring the nature of this heinous act.

The investigation into this tragic incident began on the night of April 2, 2025, after the police received a formal complaint regarding Mrs. Igbojonu's murder. A breakthrough occurred during a joint patrol by security teams in the area; on April 5, 2025, Chidiebere was apprehended when the deceased's son spotted him riding the stolen motorcycle at Ezego Junction in Ihiala.

During questioning, Chidiebere provided information that led to the swift arrest of his accomplice, Emmanuel Ibeabuchi, on April 7, 2025. The investigation has revealed that two additional suspects, known as Alla and Emeka, are currently at large, further complicating the case.

SP Ikenga has confirmed that the state Commissioner of Police has instructed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation. He urged the operatives to intensify their efforts to locate the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
