One Killed in Gunmen Attack on Mosque in Kaduna

A tragic incident unfolded in Kaduna State, where a 23-year-old man named Usman Mohammed lost his life during an assault on a mosque. The attack occurred in Rigasa, as worshippers were engaged in prayer.

Hassan Mansir, the spokesperson for the Kaduna Police Command, reported that the assailants struck around 2 a.m. on Friday. Initial investigations suggest that the gunmen, armed and organized, originated from several nearby areas, including Malalin Gabas, Tudun Wada, Rafin Guza, and Unguwar Baduko.

The attack targeted worshippers at Layin Bilya, along Makwa Road and Rigasa in Kaduna. Following a distress call from a local resident, police officers were dispatched to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the attackers had fled, leaving behind the victim who had been fatally stabbed.

Mansir confirmed that 12 suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident and that a thorough investigation is underway.

In light of the attack, he added, "The Kaduna State Police Command has significantly increased security measures across key areas, particularly around mosques during prayer times. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to help enhance crime prevention efforts."
