‎"I do not believe it would be politically prudent for Obi to step back and serve under a Northern candidate in 2027. Instead, he should carefully consider whether or not to run at all,” Nwobodo remarked.

‎In a recent statement, Barrister John Nwobodo, former chairman of the inter -party advisory council ( IPAC), emphasized that rather than consider the role of deputy to a Northern candidate in the 2027 elections, former presidential candidate Peter Obi should reassess his ambitions altogether. He praises Obi for his significant impact on Nigeria’s political landscape while asserting that Obi is not a desperate politician willing to sacrifice his principles for power.

‎He also highlighted the challenges facing any opposition seeking to challenge the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the coming election, noting the party's entrenched position bolstered by a vast membership and influential supporters.

‎“The task of defeating the APC will demand extraordinary efforts. This isn't just about party labels; the core issue lies in a pervasive lack of patriotism among many politicians, who view politics merely as a means to gain power and wealth," Nwobodo explained.

‎In his view, the way forward requires a fresh approach. “To effectively challenge the APC, we need a new breed of politicians united through a coalition of various parties and an actively engaged citizenry. Any strategy that leans on the old guard will likely fail,” he state
