Four Killed, Nine Injured in Lagos-Ibadan Road Accident


Four passengers lost their lives in a single -vehicle accident along lagos-ibadan express way

The Ogun State Police Command has announced that four passengers tragically died in a single-vehicle accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, raising concerns about road safety in the area. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the state capital, that other passengers on the bus sustained injuries.

Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the FRSC Ogun Sector Command, stated that the accident was caused by speed violation and a tyre burst, which resulted in a loss of control.

The crash involved a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number FKJ570YE, carrying 13 passengers. According to Okpe, four person's,  two men and two women lost their lives, while nine others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

“FRSC operatives from the RS2.29 Ogunmakin Unit Command carried out a rescue operation on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Alapako,” Okpe said. 

She added that the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital in y , while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at FOS Morgue in Ipara.

"Always ensure  proper vehicle maintenance and adhere to traffic safety regulations to prevent road incident; the commander implored motorists.
