Air Marshal Urges Nigerian Air Force to Intensify Air Operations Against Banditry While Prioritizing Civilian Safety

 The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has urged Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel to amplify air strikes against bandits while prioritizing civilian safety. In a statement released by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, this directive is in line with the NAF’s Civilian Harm Mitigation Action Plan, reinforcing the commitment to precision air operations that safeguard civilians.

Air Marshal Abubakar made this appeal during his visit to the Air Component Headquarters of Operation Fansam Yamma in Katsina and Sokoto States. He praised the unwavering dedication of the troops in the fight against banditry and encouraged them to maintain their momentum, highlighting that air power is a crucial asset in disrupting criminal networks and providing essential support to ground forces in the ongoing counter-banditry operations. He acknowledged the vital roles of intelligence, logistics, and troop morale in ensuring successful operations, assuring personnel of ongoing support in these critical areas.

He stressed that timely intelligence, well-maintained equipment, and high troop morale are key to achieving enduring security in the region. During his visit, Air Marshal Abubakar assessed operational aircraft and ongoing infrastructure projects firsthand.

In Sokoto, he inspected newly constructed accommodations and other operational facilities to ensure personnel have the necessary support for their missions. Similarly, in Katsina, he reviewed significant infrastructure developments, including a new hangar, accommodation, and a Base church, reaffirming the NAF’s commitment to enhancing the operational efficiency and well-being of its personnel.
